Returning from your summer holiday can be tough. Especially if you've stayed in a beautifully decorated air B&B and return to ...well, the clutter of your own home!
Before you could manage living in disorder, now you see it from a new perspective and it has to go.
Here are 5 ways you can get going- using your summer energy to transform your home.
Start by visualising the space that you would like to live in. Taking inspiration from Air B&B, magazines or friends homes- make a vision board of ideas. Your brain needs a clear idea of the outcome in order to navigate there.
Once you have a clear idea of the kind of space you would like, start in the place that would bring most relief to you. For example, if you spend most of your time in the living room- clearing and reorganising this space will enable you to relax and enjoy your down time.
Break the task down into manageable segments- Clearing the magazines, Sorting through shoes, clearing out a draw. 15-45 mins is a good amount of time for one session. Don't forget to set a timer.
Give yourself a reward. One hr 30mins of decluttering then I can go out and enjoy the sunshine, have an ice cream, buy a coffee... When you know there is a reward at the end, your motivation and focus will be stronger!
When you finish decluttering, re-organise your space! Look at your vision board, and make changes that give the look and feel you want. This is a powerful signal to your brain that there has been a change. Not only will you love the way it looks, it will help you reset and start new habbits.
Now you can sit back and enjoy the spaces you have created!
